Alberta · Saskatchewan · Manitoba
Watson Exteriors installs asphalt shingle, Class 4 impact-resistant shingle, low-slope and custom metal roofing across Calgary and area, Regina and Saskatchewan, and Winnipeg and Manitoba. Every job starts with an on-site measure — not a phone quote — and finishes with a written scope naming the exact product, colour and square footage before anything is ordered. If a storm's involved, we handle the hail inspection and insurance side too. On-site assessments are $150.
What's involved
Four systems, chosen for the roof rather than for whatever is easiest to order.
Shingle · Class 4 · Low slope · Metal
The standard roofing choice — a wide range of colours and profiles, and the most cost-effective option for a straightforward reroof.
Class 4 is the top impact-resistance rating for asphalt shingles. Across the prairie hail belt — southern Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba — many insurers offer a premium discount for it, so the upgrade often pays for part of itself over the life of the roof.
Flat and low-slope roof systems, detailed properly at the drains and edges where most low-slope failures actually start.
Standing seam and other metal roofing, fabricated in-house to the building's own profile rather than stock parts — see our custom metal page for the full detail.
Most hail damage isn't obvious from the ground — bruised shingles often show as a soft spot where the granules have been knocked loose, not a visible hole, and fail a season or two later. If a storm's involved, our hail damage and insurance claims page walks through exactly how we inspect, document and work with your adjuster.

Cost depends on the roof's size, pitch, number of layers being removed and the material you choose, which is why we don't quote a square-foot rate over the phone. Every job is measured on site first, and you get a written scope with the exact products, colours and square footage before we order anything.
Class 4 is the top impact-resistance rating for asphalt shingles. Across the prairie hail belt — southern Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba — many insurers offer a premium discount for it, so the upgrade often pays for part of itself over the life of the roof.
A straightforward roof is usually a day or two once materials land. A full claim covering roofing, siding, eavestrough and screens runs longer and depends on how quickly the adjuster signs off. We'll give you a realistic window in the written scope, not a best case.
Permit requirements vary by municipality and depend on things like whether the roof structure itself is changing. We check what's required for your address as part of the on-site visit, so it's handled before work starts, not after.
Asphalt shingle is the standard choice — lower upfront cost, wide colour range, and Class 4 options built for hail. Standing seam metal costs more to install but sheds snow and hail better and typically lasts longer before it needs replacing. Which one makes sense usually comes down to budget, roof pitch and how long you're planning to stay in the house — we'll walk through the trade-offs on site.
